PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic flaw detector bringing about no decrease in flaw detecting efficiency even in such a case that the replacement of a probe is performed at electronic scanning or reception, and a flaw detecting method using it.;SOLUTION: The probe 50 is constituted of a plurality of element groups. After a predetermined delay is applied to the electric signal inputted to a delay element group 6, the electric signal is applied to a pulser group 7 to emit ultrasonic waves at the same time from the respective element groups. A receiver group 14 receives an echo signal through each of the corresponding elements to convert the same to an electric signal to transmit the electric signal to the delay element group 13. The delay element group 13 is constituted so as to add a predetermined delay to the electric signal received from the receiver group 14 to transmit the delayed electric signal to a waveform synthesizing part 12.
