PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring method of distribution of distortion and temperature using an optical fiber which enables practical, high-precision and long-distance measurement of changes in the distortion and the temperature as the state of distribution extending in the axial direction of the optical fiber.;SOLUTION: An optical pulse is made incident on the optical fiber for sensing, with an optical frequency varied, and Rayleigh scattered light returning from the optical fiber is received. A distortion change and a temperature change in the direction of the axis of the optical fiber are measured by using the relation of a correlated peak frequency of the received Rayleigh scattered light with the distortion variation-temperature variation-optical frequency variation of the optical fiber.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
