PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synthetic fiber treating agent for producing carbon fiber and a method for treating a synthetic fiber for producing the carbon fiber which allows simultaneously and sufficiently achieving prevention of mutually fusing flameproofed fibers in a flameproofing step and prevention of causing end breakage in the flameproofing step in the production of the carbon fiber.;SOLUTION: A agent comprising a specific amino-modified polyorganosiloxane having an amino-modified group at least at a side chain of the main chain and a specific polycyclic aromatic compound in a prescribed amount and over in total and in a prescribed ratio of both components is used as the synthetic fiber treating agent for producing carbon fiber.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
