PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the peeling of an inorganic coating layer, even if joint treatment operations using a caulking material are applied to an external facing member which is composed of a cement plate etc. subjected to surface finishing by using the inorganic coating layer. PSOLUTION: On the exterior wall surface of the building, this construction method for the caulking material 50 is adopted for filling a joint gap provided at the side end of the external facing member 10 whose surface is coated with the inorganic coating layer composed of an inorganic clear coating layer 24, a high-pigment sealer layer 22, etc. The construction method comprises: a step (a) of forming an organic clear coating layer 30 on the surface of the coating layer 24 in such a manner as to have a predetermined width along a lateral side adjacent to the joint gap; a step (b) of sticking a masking tape 40 along the lateral side, adjacent to the joint gap, on the coating layer 30 after that; a step (c) of infilling the caulking material 50 into the joint gap after that; and a step (d) of peeling the masking tape 40 after that.
