PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information embedding device, an information extracting device, an information embedding method, an information extracting method, an information embedding program, an information extracting program, and a recording medium that can embed information in a document image or extract such embedded information in such a manner that the information is hardly influenced by deterioration in picture quality due to processing such as scanning and printing. PSOLUTION: The information embedding device which embeds the information in the document image by using the spacing length of a character spacing of the document image has an information embedding means of varying the spacing length of each character spacing of the document image not to value a prescribed section and embedding the information in the character spacing whose spacing length has an upper-limit value of the prescribed section.
