Disclosed are novel compounds 3-methyl-1,4-diaryl-1H-pyrazolo[4',3':5,6]pyrido[2,3-d]-pyrimidine-5-ones of general formula:exhibiting high solubility in polar organic solvents and resistance to action of acid reagents and oxidants, as well as a process for the preparation thereof involving interaction of equimolar amounts of aminopyrazole with carbonyl-containing compounds, aromatic aldehydes and substituted barbituric acids in ethyl alcohol or dimethyl sulfoxide as organic solvent in one stage in microwave reactor at a temperature of 165-170 °C (ethyl alcohol) or 195-200 °C (dimethyl sulfoxide) for 3-5 min. The reaction mass prepared is cooled to room temperature, and corresponding end product is filtered. The invention enables to decrease synthesis duration to 3-5 minutes, enhance the quality and reaction yields of compounds of formula I, provides the preparation of wide variety of pyrazolopyrimidinone derivatives with advanced properties and extends the sphere of use thereof in medicine, biology, agriculture and in luminescent materials.
