A method for producing a miter joint or corner joint (2) between two components (4a, 4b) by vibration welding, in which miter areas (6, 8) that make contact with each other of the two components (4a, 4b) are in a common fixed miter plane (E) before the start of the welding process, and during the welding process they are rubbed together by oscillations of the components under pressure by prescribed welding, characterized in that during the welding process the two components (4a, 4b) are subjected to oscillations (S) of straight-line translation perpendicular to each other, whose phases are made to coincide with each other so that the miter areas (6, 8) of the two components (4a, 4b) oscillate transversely to the fixed miter plane (E), and through this plane, in which said areas remain under the pressure by prescribed welding.
