DENTAL COMPOSITION FOR PREVENTING AND TREATING STOMATITIS AND MOUTH ULCERS

A composition in form of mouthwash, topic gel, or toothpaste, for avoiding and treating stomatitis, ulcerations, lesions of continuity of the mouth lining. The composition comprises Myrrh resin as fluid extract and chloride or other soluble zinc sa advantageously it comprises also a disinfecting substance preferably of cationic type, such as chlorhexidine gluconate, as well as a glycyrrhetic acid, for example 18-ß-glycyrrhetic acid. The composition has a higher analgesic, anti-inflammatory and disinfecting capacity than the products frequently used for stomatitis and mouth lining ulcers, owing to a synergistic action of the disinfecting properties of the zinc ion, and the disinfecting and analgesic activity of the Myrrh resin, advantageously with an anti-inflammatory action specific of the glycyrrhetic acid. A possible mucoadhesive substance can assist the efficacy of the composition owing to its adhesion on the lesions to treat, thus increasing the duration of the active principles on the lesions.
