The invention relates to biocompatible or non-biocompatible macroporous and meso/macroporous materials obtained from polymers, by means of a method that uses concentrated or highly concentrated emulsions. Furthermore, the invention relates to the uses of said materials, in particular as a carrier for transferring active principles or other substances, in biomedical implants and as an absorbent or filter in purification, extraction and separation processes.
