PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing porous polytetrafluoroethylene membrane, a porous polytetrafluoroethylene membrane thereby, and a filter medium using the same are provided to produce the porous polytetrafluoroethylene membrane of high permeability.;CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing porous polytetrafluoroethylene membrane includes the following steps of: molding a compound in which fine powder and liquid lubricant are mixed to a sheet phase; removing the liquid lubricant from a molded body; extending the molded body to a predetermined direction at a melting temperature of polytetrafluoroethylene or more; and extending the elongated molded body to the predetermined direction.
