PURPOSE: A method for setting roll gap of continuous rolling mill is provided to obtain strip thickness of high accuracy by predicting mill constant, mill constant correcting coefficient and gauge meter error using data of actual rolling results. CONSTITUTION: The method for setting roll gap of rolling mill by automatically predicting mill constant and gauge meter error comprises first step (S100,S110) of forming respective gauge meter expressions of the front and intermediate parts of the relevant rolling material using the average values as parameters after obtaining respective average values of respective data of actual rolling results of front and intermediate parts of relevant rolling material; second step (S120) of obtaining mill constant (Mw) and gauge meter error using the respective gauge meter expressions formed in the first step; third step (S130) of obtaining a mill constant correcting coefficient according to strip width using the mill constant (Mw) calculated in the second step and a mill constant (M) measured in the state that the rolling material is not metal-in the rolling mill; and a fourth step (S140) of setting the abstracted data as rolling conditions during the following rolling by abstracting the data after storing the mill constant (Mw), gauge meter error and mill constant correcting coefficient obtained in the first to third steps.
