PURPOSE: A manufacturing method of aluminum nitride using self-propagating combustion is provided to remarkably reduce manufacturing costs and to improve heat efficiency without continuously supplying the heat from the outside. CONSTITUTION: A manufacturing method of aluminum nitride using self-propagating combustion includes a step for manufacturing aluminum nitride powder under nitrogen atmosphere. A raw material further contains nitrogen salt. The nitrogen salt is mixed of ammonium chloride, a sodium nitrate or a mixture thereof. The raw material contains the nitrogen salt of 1 ~ 5 weight%. A molar ratio of the aluminum and the aluminum nitride is 1:1.5 ~ 3. An average particle size of the aluminum powder is 10 ~ 40m.
