PURPOSE: A brake disk made of high carbon alloy cast iron is provided to maintain the braking performance under an extreme condition such as high temperature frictional heat and strong impact. CONSTITUTION: A brake disk made of high carbon alloy cast iron in a flake graphite structure comprises carbon 3.7~4.0 weight%, silicon 1.5~3.0 weight%, manganese 0.1~1.0 weight%, nickel 1.0~2.0 weight%, chrome 0.2~0.5 weight%, molybdenum 0.5~1.2 weight%, cobalt 0.5~3.0 weight%, vanadium 0.5 weight% or less, and iron(Fe) including the rest impurities. The sum of the vanadium and cobalt is 3.2 weight% or less based on the total weight of the disk. The distribution rate of ferrite and carbide within the matrix tissue is less than 5.0% based on the total volume of the disk.
