In a composite brake disk consisting of a gray cast iron carrier disk (1) firmly bonded to at least one friction ring (2) of different material covering at least the region opposite to a brake lining, the ring (2) is of friction material with higher corrosion resistance than the carrier disk. Independent claims are included for methods for producing the brake disks, involving bonding friction ring(s) (2) onto the carrier disk (1) by: (1) friction welding the ring onto the disk; or (2) casting the disk onto the ring.
