A method for regenerating high frequency plant from zygotic embryo-derived embryogenic cell suspension cultures of Brasenia schreberi is provided to generate somatic embryo and high frequency plant from embryogenic callus of Brasenia schreberi through suspension culture. A method for regenerating high frequency plant from zygotic embryo-derived embryogenic cell suspension cultures of Brasenia schreberi comprises the steps of: (i) germinating Brasenia schreberi seeds in a 1/2 MS basic medium; (ii) inducing the zygotic embryo by cutting the germinated seeds and sprouting it in the 1/2 MS basic medium; (iii) forming a callus by cultivating the induced zygotic embryo in the 2,4-D-added 1/2 MS medium; (iv) multiplying the callus in the 2,4-D-added 1/2 MS medium; (v) suspension culturing the multiplied callus in the 2,4-D-added 1/2 MS medium; (vi) differentiating high frequency plants by subculturing the cell mass formed in the suspension cultivation step in the 1/2 MS medium added with activated charcoal and zeatin; and (vii) inducing the formation of roots by subculturing plants specialized with leaf in the 1/2 MS medium added with IAA, NAA.
