A method and a system for controlling the play time of an online game user, and a recording medium thereof are provided for users to previously set a game play time and to observe the preset game play time, thereby preventing addiction to online game of the user due to an excessive game play time. Game users connect to on online game by using a plurality of user clients(1a-1n). An online game server(2) provides the role of being the center of the online game. The plural user clients are connected to the online game server through a network(3). A play time control module(13) comprises a unit for providing a game play time setting window(31), a controller(33), a database(35), a time measuring unit(37), a bonus providing unit(39), and a warning message providing unit(41). The unit for providing the game play time setting window provides the game play time setting window for setting up a game play time to perform within a predetermined period to the user client. The database stores a game play period which the user client sets up, and a total play time to play the online game during the period, and a day play time slot. The time measuring unit measures the total play time for which the user client plays the online game during the set game play period and measures a day play time slot played for a day. The controller controls the database and the time measuring unit to confirm whether the total play time and the day play time slot are within the total play time and the day play time slot stored in the database.
