The device has a selective catalyst reduction (SCR) control device (20) connected with an engine control unit (31) over a control line (11). A resistance heating element (34) is thermally coupled with a temperature sensor (33). The temperature sensor is connected with the engine control unit, so that temperature information of the temperature sensor is transferred from the engine control unit to the SCR control device over the control line. A pump module-heating controller (22) is provided in the SCR control device for regulating or controlling the resistance heating element. An independent claim is also included for a method for heating a selective catalyst reduction (SCR)-pump module.
