The method involves inserting a round wood volume measuring system-testing body (10) into a laser-round wood volume measuring system, where the body comprises a front surface (12) and an edge (16). A geometric characteristic value i.e. geometric centroid (S), of the round wood volume measuring system-testing body is determined via laser-triangulation, where the testing body has thickness (D) of less than 30 centimeters. The testing body is rotated perpendicular to the front surface. The geometric characteristic value is compared with a calibration value. An independent claim is also included for a round wood volume measuring system-testing body with a front surface.
