The device has a supporting element (1) designed as a hollow profile, attached to a towing bar of a transport vehicle e.g. trailer, and arranged on a base. The element is length adjustable and has an electromotive length adjusting drive e.g. low voltage electric motor (6). The drive voltage is equal to on-board voltage of a drawing vehicle. The drive is assigned to a plug unit (12) for connecting a plug retainer (5) that is arranged in a region of a trailer coupling of the drawing vehicle. The drive is assigned to a connecting unit for connecting a lighting network of the drawing vehicle.
