The method involves transmitting a signal from a node component (K1) to another node component (K2) via a bus interface (12), and attempting decoding of the signal by the latter node component with a character sequence rate. A result of the decoding attempt is evaluated, and the character sequence rate is utilized latter node component, if the result indicates a minimum quality criterion is fulfilled. The decoding of the signal is attempted with another character sequence rate, if the result indicates the minimum quality criterion is not fulfilled. An independent claim is also included for a measurement device for implementing a method for detecting a character sequence.
