Use of a lanthanum free mixed oxide (I) containing cerium, zirconium or neodymium metals, and another rare earth metal in oxide form, where the rare earth metal is different from cerium and neodymium, as catalytically active component in a particle filter, is claimed. Independent claims are included for: (1) the particle filter comprising (I); (2) a waste-gas purification system comprising the particle filter and an oxidation catalyst; and (3) use of the particle filter or waste-gas purification system for the treatment of waste gas from fossil fuels, synthetic or bio-fuels.
