The method involves arranging a laser receiver (12) i.e. dual axis receiver, which is used for position detection of a laser beam along one or two measurement directions. A measuring device (13) is arranged at a measuring point of a body surface (5) i.e. flange surface. Shape and/or position relations between the body surface and another body surface (6) is determined in a computerized and automated manner by comparative evaluation of position values, position value differences and/or position value curves, where the position values are determined at the respective body surfaces.
