The method involves carrying out partial expansion of an end section (6) of a metallic pipe (2) by force acting on an inner surface of the metallic pipe for manufacturing a plug-in sleeve (7), where distance of spreading flanges of a tool to a middle longitudinal axis (11) is enlarged. The flanges are moved against the inner surface until the end section experiences partial plastic deformation. The expansion of the end section is interrupted, where distance of the flanges to the longitudinal axis is reduced until the flanges are positioned with distance to the inner surface. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for manufacturing a plug-in sleeve (2) a connection formed between two metallic pipes.
