The method involves providing an original product with a marking e.g. UV marking. The original product is identified by x-ray radiation and/or radiation in a terahertz range or combination of both the radiations, where a x-ray scanner, a computer tomography scanner and a terahertz spectrometer are utilized in the method. The marking contains silicon dioxide, silicate, aluminum containing compound, tantalum, thallium and/or samarium. The marking is provided at and/or in a cladding, an information material, and/or an accompanying document of the original product. An independent claim is also included for a marking for identification of original products and imitator products.
