The component (1) has an epitaxially produced layer sequence (10) with a main side that is turned towards a main radiation direction and another main side that is turned away from the direction. A carrier substrate (40) is transparent for light emitted in the direction and mechanically stabilizes the layer sequence. The carrier substrate is arranged on the former main side and connected with the sequence layer. Two connecting terminals (20, 21) are provided for supplying charge carriers to partial layers (11, 12) of the layer sequence and arranged on the latter main side. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing an optoelectronic component.
