The covering (1) has a layer (3) i.e. fiber cloth (4), containing dynamic components (2) in form of fibers (5, 6) e.g. twisted yarns, and/or particles. The dynamic components are partially designed from a material, where physical characteristics e.g. heat conductivity, of the material are changed by application of electrical field and/or magnetic field and/or electrical current. The dynamic components include similar or different geometries and dimensions. The dynamic components are made of electroactive material e.g. electrostrictive polymer or conductive polymer. An independent claim is also included for a method for changing physical characteristics of a covering for supporting and guiding a web in a web producing and/or web processing machine. The dynamic components are made of polypyrrole, polyaniline or polythiophene.
