The method involves adjusting a desired air charge in a cylinder of an internal combustion engine (2) by setting a target intake pipe pressure for controlling the internal combustion engine. A supercharging pressure offset is determined according to a function of an operating point of the internal combustion engine, particularly according to target intake pipe pressure. A supercharging pressure control value is determined according to the target intake pipe pressure and the supercharging pressure offset. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a device for determining a supercharging pressure control value for setting a supercharging pressure in a supercharged internal combustion engine of an engine system; and (2) a computer program.
