The labeling device (1) has a rotatably supported disk (3) with recesses (4) for supplying the articles (2) to be labeled. The disk is connected with a label holding device (5), which temporarily holds the wrap label. A holding device is arranged to hold the article in a central point of the disk in rotationally fixed manner. A drive (8) of the disk is displaced in rotation, so that the wrap label is brought on a surface of the article, after one-time contact between the surface of the article and a partial label surface of the wrap label. An independent claim is included for a method for applying wrap labels on elongated articles.
