The system has an electrical heating device (1) i.e. electrical positive temperature coefficient auxiliary heater, with a positive temperature coefficient heating element that is attached to an energy source, and a device for stepless control of heating element. The heating element control device has a direct current/direct current transducer (20) that regulates heat output of the heating element. The direct current/direct current transducer is a buck converter or boost converter. A blowing out temperature regulator (19) supplies a correcting variable to the transducer. An independent claim is also included for a method for performing stepless control of an electrical heating device.
