The method involves configuring a parking assistant system to turn guidable wheels (3) of a motor vehicle (1) after completion of parking process during parking of motor vehicle at a downhill grade. The wheels are placed in a straight-ahead position during restart of engine by the parking assistant system. The inclination of a roadway and the distance of the motor vehicle to a curb (4) are transmitted to the parking assistant system by sensors. A parking brake of the vehicle is activated automatically after reaching of parking position by the parking assistant system.
