The method involves detecting consumption data during payment transactions by a mobile device e.g. mobile telephone, so that a consumption profile is generated. The consumption data is transmitted to a central electronic data processing system, and income data of a competence profile are provided in the central system. Data constructs are provided as the consumption or competence profile, so that economic variables for a state of an overall economic system are automatically determined. The economic variables are used for controlling and evaluating the state of the economic system. An independent claim is also included for a device for determining measuring variables, parameters and data for evaluation and control of an economic system.
