The method involves determining a measure for pressure and a measure for temperature in interior (12) of a gas-filled hollow body i.e. pneumatic spring (2), at two consecutive time points in a testing period. Mass of gases escaped from the interior of the hollow body during the testing period is computed based on the determined pressure and the temperature. The hollow body is made of elastomer material. A volume of the interior of the hollow body is kept constant during the testing period. A change of the volume caused by escape of gases from the interior is determined.
