The method involves monitoring air pressure that is present in an inflatable hollow body using a pressure measuring element, where the body is made of ductile and air-impermeable material such as linen cloth or advertising element. A signal of an evaluation unit generated by the measuring element is supplied and is compared with pressure measured values that are previously stored in the evaluation unit. The air pressure in an inner area of the inflatable hollow body is changed in the case of deviations of the determined actual pressure measured values from the defined measured value range. An independent claim is also included for a carrying structure operating device comprising an evaluation unit.
