The module (1) has a substrate (2), and an LED (3) formed in the substrate. A layer (4) is made of photo luminescent material for covering the LED. A recess (6) filled with the photo luminescent material is provided in a surface (5) of the substrate and/or the LED. The recess exhibits a regular pattern e.g. rectangular and square pattern, in a cross section of the module. The LED includes a circular bar (9) forming an electrical connection (10) of the LED. A lower side (7) of the LED is provided with a metallic layer (8). The recess engages an optically active layer (12) of the LED.
