The switching method involves driving an axis of an internal combustion engine (3) with a downstream control gear (4) with traction force interruption during switching. Another axis of an electric machine (5) is driven with another downstream control gear (6). The gears are switched such that the total moment of the internal combustion engine and the electric machine remains unchanged before and during switching.
