Hydraulic linear tensioner for traction mechanism drive of internal combustion engine of motor vehicle, has locking unit's ball engaging into circular groove provided in piston during actuation of ball such that piston couples with housing
The tensioner has a piston (1) displaceably guided relative to a housing (3) in a linear direction, where the housing is fixedly connected with a cylinder (4). Hydraulic fluid flows from a hollow chamber (6) into a pressure chamber (5) during linear movement of the piston and the cylinder based on a moving direction by a non-return valve (7) or from the pressure chamber into the hollow chamber via a leakage gap (8). A ball of a locking unit (10) engages into a circular groove (9) provided in the piston during actuation of the ball such that the piston couples with the housing.
