The unit (10) has a battery module (6) arranged in a housing (7) that comprises connection elements (8, 9) for detachable fastening to a motor vehicle. A tempering device (11) i.e. device for cooling or heating the battery module, is attached to the battery module in such a manner that the battery module and the tempering device define a transportable unit. A temperature sensor is attached to the battery module and coupled with a control module for the tempering device, where the control module is coupled with an additional external temperature-detector.
