An interior trim is provided which is designed to accommodate an additional inflatable restraint (SIR) system when installed in a motor vehicle. The trim includes a rigid substrate configured to be attached to the vehicle. The rigid substrate includes an opposed inner surface and an outer surface defining therein a cavity having an opening formed through the inner and outer surfaces. The cavity is configured with the SIR system in it. From the rigid substrate projects an upright rib which extends at least around a portion of the opening. On the rigid substrate, an outer skin is injection molded covering the outer surface and the opening. The outer skin includes a reduced thickness portion formed between an outer surface thereof and the upstanding rib configured to attenuate the outer skin so that the inflatable cushion may break when transitioning from an unstretched to a stretched condition ,
