The method involves detecting and estimating an object depending on periphery conditions determined by the vehicle and the object. A collision is impended and an evasion movement or braking is carried out by engaging in the vehicle steering or brake unit (12) for avoiding the collision. A periphery (16) is monitored and estimated behind the vehicle, whether it comes in collision from back by an object nearing from back. An independent claim is included for a device for the execution of collision avoiding method.
