The seal (1') has a gas outlet channel (14) designed with an outlet opening (17) in a sealing lip (3) and with another outlet opening (18) in a sealing base (2) for discharging gases present in a hollow chamber (5) and an external hollow chamber (21), where the hollow chambers are connected with the gas outlet channel. Each outlet channel exhibits a diameter (d) of 3 millimeter. The gas outlet channel extends over an entire height of the sealing base in a longitudinal section of the seal. The external hollow chamber is formed between the sealing base and a sealing seat (20). An independent claim is also included for a household appliance comprising a preparation chamber.
