The device has a secondary clocked switching controller comprising a bridge rectifier (G) attached to a power factor correction unit (PFC). A load circuit is attached to the correction unit. The correction unit comprises diodes (D1, D2) arranged in two longitudinal branches, a clocked switch element (S1) arranged in a transverse branch and a filter capacitor (C1) arranged in another transverse branch. The correction unit is symmetrically formed such that a load choke is dividedly arranged on the longitudinal branches. One of the diodes is poled opposite to the other diode.
