The method involves producing a sacrificial structure (4) on a substrate surface (60) of a solar cell, and applying a material layer on the substrate surface such that the sacrificial structure is covered. The sacrificial structure is mechanically removed such that the material layer is structured, and an adhesive is provided between the sacrificial layer and the substrate surface. Thread-shaped elements of the sacrificial structure are connected with each other and fastened at the substrate surface, where the elements are formed as threads made of textile, plastic or metallic wire.
