The system has an electron field emission X-ray source emitting electron rays that are accelerated in a direction of an anode (9). The source and an elongated stationary anode are provided in an inner side of an evacuated housing (10). A magnetic deflection system deflects the electron rays between the source and the anode to change a position, on which x-rays impinge on the anode, where x-rays are emitted from the position. An x-ray detector detects X-rays and produces electrical signals to represent an image of an examining object e.g. patient, that is radiated via x-rays. The detector is selected from a group of silicon-PIN-photo diode-x-ray detector, charge coupled device-surface detector, detector with an amorphous selenium-surface and detector with an amorphous silicon surface.
