The method involves determining assembly duration for assembling a component of a function group i.e. electrical/electronic-architecture, in a motor vehicle. An assembly aspect for the component is determined and partial assembly duration is determined by information data i.e. engineering hour per vehicle data, and assigned to the assembly aspect by access on a database in decision steps. The assembly duration is computed from the partial assembly duration and from a planned time value table when a decision is made whether the component is a transfer component. An independent claim is also included for a device for computer-based determination of assembly duration for assembling a component of a function group in a motor vehicle.
