The method involves assigning a speed of a gear wheel of a motor vehicle to a temporal sequence of signals that are produced from a moving measured arrangement, and determining a time duration is determined. A signal is received, where the speed of the wheel is determined after the elapse of the time duration. The speed of the wheel is assigned to the time duration for receiving of the signal. An independent claim is also included for a device for determining speed e.g. angular speed, of a wheel e.g. gear wheel of a motor vehicle.
