The method of arc welding of metal parts using a consumable electrode whose one end is progressively melted by a periodic electric current intensity (I) feeding the electrode, is claimed. Each period (P) of the current comprises the following phases maintaining the current to a peak intensity data for a period of peak (De), maintaining the current to a given intermediate intensity for an intermediate time (Di), and maintaining the current at a given base intensity (Ib) for a base data (Db), where the base intensity is less than the peak intensity. The method of arc welding of metal parts using a consumable electrode whose one end is progressively melted by a periodic electric current intensity (I) feeding the electrode, is claimed. Each period (P) of the current comprises the following phases maintaining the current to a peak intensity data for a period of peak (De), maintaining the current to a given intermediate intensity for an intermediate time (Di), and maintaining the current at a given base intensity (Ib) for a base data (Db), where the base intensity (Ib) is less than the peak intensity and the intermediate intensity lies between that peak intensity and the base intensity. The intermediate time is 2-5 ms. The intermediate intensity is 13-17 A, and the base intensity is 8-12 A. The current phases are separated by phases of rapid variation of intensity of the current lasting less than 5 ms. An independent claim is included for a device for arc welding of metal parts by transferring the metal through a short-circuit.
