The method involves determining inertial torque (CINERTj) from moment of inertia (SJ) of an internal combustion engine and gradient of engine speed when the engine turns during a change ratio of a mechanical gearbox associated to the engine without fuel injection. The internal combustion engine is integrated with a clutch. Driving torque of the engine is determined from a sum of cartographed driving torque (CPE) and a corrective term defined according to the inertial torque. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for determining driving torque of an internal combustion engine (2) a method for determining driving torque of loss.
