PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rudder angle detecting apparatus and a rudder angle detecting method advantageous in facilitation of measuring tasks and cost reduction.;SOLUTION: A plurality of detecting projections 12 each provided with an inclined face 12A and an erect face 12B along the outer circumference of a profile part 2D of a steering wheel 2 are provided. A rudder angle detecting apparatus 10 detects a displacement quantity d in the radial direction of the rotation axis of the inclined face 12A, identifies a rudder angle θ from a data table in which rudder angles θ and displacement quantities d are matched with each other, outputs rudder angle data indicating the pertinent rudder angle θ, and performs identification of the rudder angle θ on the basis of the detected displacement quantity d and the latest rudder angle θ₀.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
