PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feeder and a movement control method for a supply tape such that when the supply tape is automatically inserted, control to securely engage driving sprockets for moving an electronic component to a taking-out opening with sprocket holes of the supply tape is performed, or an electronic component mounting device that is increased in availability by using the feeder on which the supply tape is securely mounted.;SOLUTION: The supply tape having storage portions for electronic components is inserted, insertion sprockets engaging sprocket holes that the inserted supply tape has are driven for insertion, and driving sprockets engaging the sprocket holes are driven to move an electronic component to a taking-out position.
