摘要

The report combines geologic, engineering, and economic analysis to estimate the quantity and value of minerals in undiscovered deposits in the White Mountains National Recreation Area and the Steese National Conservation Area in Alaska. The study was performed at the request of the Steese-White Mountains District Office, Bureau of Land Management, and will be used in a re-evaluation of current Resource Management Plans (RMP's). It was prepared by the Bureau of Mines, with geologic assessments from the U.S. Geological Survey, the Alaska Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys, and the Bureau of Mines. The current RMP's restrict or prohibit access to eight types of mineral deposits. At mid-1987 prices, the effect of the RMP's is to reduce the expected quantity of gold produced by 112,000 ounce, with a market value of $50 million.
